About me, Marina Carmen, dance Teacher & Choreographer in Borås

My name is Marina and I am a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. I started dancing as a child and my love for dance has only grown over the years. I have over ten years of experience in dance and six years of experience in teaching. My background spans several dance styles, with high heels, contemporary and commercial at the centre.

Over the years I have also trained in hip hop, popping, salsa and ballet, among others, which has shaped my versatility as both a dancer and a choreographer.

In my work I am drawn to contrasts. Strength and softness, precision and freedom. Sensuality combined with the raw. Musicality and expression are a big part of how I work, and I see dance as a way to convey feeling, personality and stories through movement.

As a teacher I want to create more than just choreography. I want to give my students tools to develop their technique, musicality and confidence, while giving them room to discover their own way of moving and expressing themselves.

I keep developing through training, workshops and travel, where meeting different dancers, choreographers and cultures inspires and develops my own artistry.

For me, dance is ultimately about connection. To the music, to the body and to yourself.
